What kind of things did you do outside during lunch recess today? Describe them using verbs and help people visualize what you did!
Today students have been learning about the different parts of a plant. Here is a list of plant parts that students came up with. Jennifer says that the roots are important to a plant. Patsi says that plants need seeds, stems, and petals to grow. Benito says that plants need sun, water, and food to grow. Michael said that plants have seeds way down inside them, especially the ones that aren't ready. Simon says that plants have veins in their stems and leaves. James said that roots, stems, petals, and leaves are all important to plants. Logan says that plants have stems to hold the flowers. Megan said that plants have stems so that the roots can take water through the stem to feed the flower. Tristin said plants have stems because the stem holds the water and the flower drinks it up. Ivette says that plants have stems to hold flowers. Johnathan said he's not sure why there are flowers on plants. Dylan says that the flowers give pollen and honey to help people live. Zoe says that flowers are on plants so it gives food to other insects and it helps things live!
James says that plants produce seeds because they need to keep growing so it makes more plants when seeds come from the flowers. Sophia says that bees go to flowers because they like the pollen and that helps other flowers grow. Simon says that plants have flowers so seeds can grow inside of them and then when the flowers stop the seeds leave so more can grow. Noah said that seeds can be spread since they are in the flower and when something opens it the seed fly away. Christopher says that seeds fly away because of the wind and when the wind blows very hard the seeds get blown away. Patsi says that the seeds can also be spread through people and animals, even the wind. Betsy says that the world has flowers because they help the Earth sat healthy! Christopher says that we found rolly pollies and when they get scared the curl up into a little ball. Patsi says that rolly pollies are super small. We found tons of them in our flowers and roots. Welcome 2nd graders, to our new writing experience. Every day we will be answering a question on our blog. Your first question on our blog is, What kind of verbs did you see this weekend?
